Back? Yes.
Something I’ve learned bouncing around between dreamwidth and livejournal … real friends are hard to come by. While I enjoy the livejournal site now that all the crazy quirks seem to be worked out, I really miss my friends.

Honestly, I have no idea what I am doing. I miss blogging though, that’s the real thing here … and I haven’t really found my niche place to blog to be honest, but the fact that I miss you guys more than I want to blog at Livejournal has me once more back on DW.

Shoot me, I know!

I guess I should do a quick update on things – really quick because not much has really been going other than stuff with dad.

Dad - He hit his three month mark of Chemo about 4 weeks ago and about 3 weeks ago he had another CT scan to see what kind of affect the chemo has had on his tumors.

The good news is, that the tumor in his liver (the bigger one), shrank by half. It was 7.2cm and it’s now at 3.6cm. Also, he’d started to get lymph nodes in his neck/lungs (meaning the cancer had started to make its way there—and thankfully didn’t or we’d be down shits creek) … those lymph nodes are now completely gone as well.

While this is very promising and wonderful news, we’re not trying to get our hopes up too much. We know how unpredictable cancer can be … but we were definitely crying tears of joy when we heard this news, don’t be misled! (: He has to do a few more months of chemo still (another 3), and they’ll check the tumor size then. If it’s small enough, they can go in and operate and remove the mass. Or, if miracles happen, and the tumor just completely gets wiped out, so much better.

The not-so-good news? The treatments are starting to hit him harder as he continues to get them. In the beginning the days following his chemo he wasn’t exactly ‘okay’, but his nausea wasn’t too bad and the other side effects were way more bearable. Now? He’s laid up for at least the first two-three days after his treatment because the nausea is so bad he can barely sit up/walk around a lot. And earlier on, he’d be okay after the first two or so days … now he’s not feeling “normal” until about five-six days later.

It’s pretty hard to see someone you love so much barely able to sit up because he’s feeling so horrible. We’ve tried looking up natural remedies for nausea since the meds don’t seem to be working as effectively anymore. He’s tried pure ginger, which some say is the best, and while it eases it a little bit, he says it’s not enough for the foul taste (I love my dad :D). He’s tried teas, he’s tried ginger-ale (which isn’t so natural but less foul tasting) … we just don’t know what else to have him try.

Still … the news is promising. Hopefully it will only be three more months and he can get a short break if they do operate him (which will be a different pain, but at least the chemo won’t be eating away at him).

Vermont – The only other thing that happened recently was my trip up to Vermont with friends a couple of weekends ago. It was so nice to get away for a little while … even just three days. I actually brought my camera with me (shocking, I know), and took a crapton of photos up there. The whole album of photos can be found here if you’re bored but below the cut are my favorite few from the trip. They’ll mostly be the nature pics, but there were people pics too ha-ha.

Otherwise, things are pretty much the same. Classes ended a few weeks ago, so grades should be available soon-ish. I’ve signed up for 2 in the fall, and one of them is a course I ‘have’ to take (statistics). I am really dreading that class because I hate anything having to do with numbers, but I need one more ‘numbers’ related course for my ‘general’ studies *headdesk*. The other is a history course. I’m now in my ‘senior’ year of history courses, so these are a bit more ‘work’, so I am hoping the statistic class doesn’t take away from that lol

Hope everyone’s doing well! <3

Pictures!

[edit] Okay, nevermind on the photos. They don't seem to want to load and I have no idea what the problem is. If I can't share my photos from flickr this is going to be very bad lol ... Ill try to track down why this crap isn't work. Sigh.

I'm really glad you're blogging here again! I've missed you. I'm so glad to hear that your Dad's treatment is looking promising. It's difficult to see someone you love in pain, but good to know that the chemo is having a positive effect as well. ****hugs****

Good luck with school! At least you'll have the history courses to balance out that pesky statistics course!

That is very promising news about your dad.

That reminds me, when my mother was badly sick she had terrible nausea for a while and we tried herbal ginger tea, I honestly don't think it worked that well but she seemed to enjoy drinking it.

Great pictures! What a pretty place.

Thank you! We're keeping the positive thoughts with this news (:

Yeah my dad tried the tea too, but he said the taste is pretty awful (but hes not much of a tea drinker so thats probably it lol).

Thanks! It was very relaxing and beautiful there. We had a blast :D

Welcome back! :D *does a little happy dance*

I'm so glad to hear that your Dad is doing better. I understand that you don't want to get your hopes up, but shrinking tumors is something to be psyched about. I remember my Dad's second round of chemo hitting him harder than the first, but he usually felt good (enough) after five days or so. It's very rough nonetheless, but at least it's working and that is good news!

Hang there, sweetie. I'm sure everything will be okay. ;)

Oh I am so glad to hear that you father has some good news; the fact that the chemo did work and shrank the larger tumor by half is amazing! I continue to hope that the good will lead the way and bless your family. As for the nausea, it is hard to watch. Messed my grandma up real bad when she had it and she was tired alot. Hoping your dad can adjust or find a good remedy for it.

I also shared this on my FB a while ago, might be an idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NukHpVoAV0g
It is regarding an inexpensive and effective way to treat cancer; it is just starting to get around, but this video has been around for while. I saw it a year or two ago I believe.
